Lord Chesterfield Born September 22, 1694 Initiated June 24, 1721 Raised Died March 24, 1773 The full title of this great Freemason is The Right Honourable Philip Dormer Stanhope, Fourth Earl of Chesterfield, Lord Stanhope of Shelford, but is best known as Lord Chesterfield. He is most renown for his lengthy career in public office as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Ambassador to the Hague, and, holding seat in Parliament. Lord Chesterfield is also well known for legislating the adoption of the Gregorian Calendar in 1751. Brother Stanhope was initiated at King's Arms Tavern in London on June 24, 1721.
